Carefully crafted with founding queens and young colonies in mind, the Myrmeco nano kit provides everything you need to get started. From either one single queen or a small colony upto 30-50 workers (depending on the species).
This formicarium simulates a realistic claustral chamber that the queen would create in the wild as well as providing a great starting environment for your young colony.
Not only does this provide a substrate that mimics their natural environment, it also ensures that a humidity gradient can be easily maintained by not one but two hydration portals located at the back of the nest allowing you to hydrate the nest material directly as well as refilling the water chamber underneath.
This formicarium is suitable for almost all species of ants, from Common Black Garden Ants such as Lasius niger to granivorous seed harvesters such as Messor barbarus to the fast ever growing, exotic species such as Camponotus nicobarensis.
The tall ceiling also make it an ideal starter nest for honeypot ants such as Myrmecocystus mexicanus.
A key feature of this nest is that the foraging area attaches directly on top of their nesting chamber. Allowing maximum field of observation, which is handy when observing your founding queen or small colony's behaviour. This foraging area is especially key for semi claustral queens which forage during their founding journey!
As with all of our nests, the Myrmeco nano is modular and can be connected to others like it or any of our other Ants HQ formicariums.
